Enjoy independent retirement living with new friends
What Is Independent Living at The Hawthorns?
Independent living at The Hawthorns leaves you free to put time back into your life, doing what you enjoy and not fretting over the administrative burden of bills, property maintenance, cooking, housework, and other domestic duties. Independent living gives you the time to pursue your interests or even develop new ones, widen your circle of friends, go out on trips, and feel a part of a close-knit community with the privacy of your own front door. Having your independence does not mean needing to feel isolated – it’s far from it.
What is Independent Living?
Independent living is a housing arrangement that is designed to suit older adults and can vary from apartment-style living to studio and bungalows. Residents are still able to live independently, however most independent living retirement villages will offer amenities, activities, and other helpful services. Independent retirement living communities are increasingly popular, as they give residents the opportunity to connect with new people and enjoy a range of activities that may not be otherwise available if not living within an independent living retirement village or community.
Form friendships around shared interests…
As part of our independent living retirement communities, dedicated staff are happy to make arrangements for activities that are popular and welcome new ideas and suggestions for activities and outings. You’ll find bridge clubs, Scrabble tournaments, rambling excursions, choirs, Tai-Chi, and even wine tasting, among many others. Outside speakers from a variety of backgrounds often join us to give talks, and local musicians play their instruments or sing songs from well-known shows. A popular feature within our independent living retirement villages is the grand piano, which can be found at every location, and is readily available for you to play. Some of our most popular evenings involve gathering around the piano and enjoying the company and the music.
Across our independent living retirement villages, we have recently had book launches, visiting automobile clubs, art expositions, charity galas, and there are always groups from the local community passing through our doors.
The best independent living retirement communities for you
We understand the importance of the outdoors for our resident’s health and well-being, All of our independent living retirement villages benefit from lovely, landscaped gardens, where residents often play croquet or bowls, grow flower baskets or just sit and enjoy a shady spot with neighbours.
Our bus is also an integral part of life, it frequents the local shops if you prefer not to drive yourself, and we also use it to explore local places of interest, whether alone or with friends. It even drops you off so that you can enjoy country walks, making sure to pick you up at the other end!
