We raised £5,753.01 for Great Ormond Street Hospital!
Residents and families at The Hawthorns Braintree enjoyed an afternoon tea on Saturday 25th May to celebrate their fundraising efforts for their nominated 2018/2019 Charity of the Year. Over the past year, we have been raising funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital by holding Fetes, Fayres, Mini Markets and Big Quizzes. General Managers Paul and Sandra Tripney and Head Chef Grant Burton also raised funds by taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon.
Every year residents select a ‘Charity of the Year’; after putting nominations into a hat a charity is drawn at random and all funds raised are presented to the charity in a celebration ceremony at the end of the year.
This year’s chosen charity is Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and we will be raising funds for this great charity until April 2020. The fund-raising campaign is off to a great start with £700.27 already having been raised however, the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance has challenged us to raise more than last year’s £5,753.01. Can you support the fundraising?
General Manager Paul Tripney said of the Great Ormond Street fundraising, “We are delighted with the amount raised and thank our wonderful residents and their families for their generosity for this worthy cause. Guests at our afternoon tea learned how the funds would benefit children and were provided with a brief history of the hospital. We have been touched by the many stories we have heard during our year of fundraising for the hospital. It’s wonderful to learn about those who will directly benefit from the brilliant medical research and care.
Now, we look forward to working with Essex & Herts Air Ambulance supporting the fantastic work they do in helping to save lives across the county and would welcome and encourage the local community to come along to our events in support of the charity.”
We have lots of complimentary events each month; see these on The Hawthorns Braintree Facebook page, or call 01376 335500 to find out more information.
