The Hawthorns Braintree

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity Cheque Presentation

The Hawthorns in Braintree have been fund raising for the Rainbow Trust for the last 18 months with Fetes, Fayres, Big Quizzes and other events, and also a collection tin available for those who wish to donate any change.  Our residents, staff and visitors have been incredibly generous, and we are delighted to announce a massive £2,986.00 has been raised over this time.

Abigal Smith,  a representative from the Rainbow Trust received the cheque from Julie Burks, Senior Assistant Manager and Sarah-Jane Warner, Well-being and Activities Co-ordinator.

Every year, The Hawthorns change their Charity of the Year with an opportunity for residents and staff to nominate a charity dear to their heart.  All nominations go into a hat and is chosen by a resident.

“We are so thankful for the £2986 raised by The Hawthorns Retirement Home. This is an incredible total, which will go a long way in helping to support seriously ill children and their families. As Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity receives no government funding, we simply could not continue to support families in Essex and surrounding areas without support from local fundraisers, so a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this donation possible.” – Lucy Miller, Community Fundraising Executive.

“The Hawthorns Braintree was proud to support the Rainbow Trust in supporting families with seriously ill children as our charity of the year.  Residents and staff have been actively involved in numerous activities.  Examples include raffles, bric-a-brac stalls, and hosting a big quiz.  Though it is time to choose our new charity, we are delighted to hand the baton to the wonderful Maldon Orchestra who will continue to raise money for the Rainbow Trust.  A big thank you to all the team at The Rainbow Trust for their support and engagement with our residents” – Paul Tripney, General Manager

The Rainbow Trust is the leading organisation providing emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
