A Helping Hand at the Hawthorns
Across the Hawthorns, we are proud to build strong community links, including with young people. Aggie Jasinski, Customer Service Manager at the Hawthorns Clevedon, is actively involved in the wider community and builds strong connections. In June, she welcomed Joseph, a student from the local Clevedon School, into the Hawthorns community for five days of work experience.
At the Hawthorns Clevedon, Joseph gained experience in front of the house, food service, reception, activities, well-being, event organisation, sales, and marketing. He even had the opportunity to support residents in preparation for an art exhibition at Clevedon Pier and a reptile and bug Show.
He was particularly impressed with the high-quality and beautifully presented food the Hawthorns Clevedon serves, the organisation of the food service, and the fantastic teamwork.
Aggie stated, “I am grateful to all staff involved in this project and well done to all who supported Joseph. He did remarkably well with all his duties and was delightful to work with. What a charming and polite student! It’s great that he enjoyed his first work experience and learned much from us. We are proud to be an inspiration for Joseph’s future career.”
Speaking of the experience, Pip Farrell, Careers Advisor at Clevedon School, said, “On behalf of Clevedon School and our student community, please can we thank you for your generous support of our Work Experience week. We have been really pleased by the week’s success, with over 220 students participating in this invaluable experience across 148 employers. These are record numbers that show the opportunity for young people to visit and engage in the world of work is still highly valued. Our students have returned to school this week full of praise, confidence, and renewed energy, as they have been given the opportunity to develop new transferable skills and discover what it is like to be a workforce member.”
“We look forward to building on this success again next year. In the meantime, thank you again for supporting our students in developing their knowledge and aspirations for future pathways.”
