The Hawthorns Clevedon Raises £8,000
The Hawthorns Clevedon presented their final total cheque to local St. Peter’s Hospice, which was the Hawthorns’ residents chosen charity over the last two years. In total the residents and staff raised over £8,000 from a range of events and functions, the most recent of which were a post-refurbishment furniture and fittings sale and bazaars and raffles over the Christmas period.
The bazaars saw stalls from charities selling everything from jewellery, homemade jam, chutneys and cakes, homemade wood crafts to books and cards. The stand charge paid by the stall holders and takings from refreshment sales were used to augment the prizes at the raffles, which included a horseshoe gammon from Hovercroft Butcher, a fruit basket from grocer A.D. David, a side of smoked salmon from M&J Seafood and other prizes of wine, chocolates and fragrance. At the family Christmas, there were 250 for lunch including many children and a visit from both Father and Mother Claus.
A key part of our life here is that we work with the residents to give something back to the local community, and stage a wide range of events and activities to raise much needed funds for good local causes, and everyone was so pleased that St. Peter’s had benefitted in this way.
