Hawthorns Independent Living National Lockdown Update
The new national lockdown has commenced and is expected to continue until midnight on Wednesday 2nd December 2020; and as such we are adapting our visiting protocols at all Hawthorn’s Independent Living services in line with Government and Local Authorities directives.
At this stage we intend to keep the restaurant open at the Hawthorns. We have taken this decision as the residents have been living together in a community bubble and we recognise the importance of being able to continue to dine together, albeit socially distanced.
Hairdressers will be unable to visit during the lockdown, and group activities will be adapted to enable us to continue with some socially distanced activities thanks to the wonderful energy and commitment of our Wellbeing Coordinators who work hard to keep the entertainment and fun alive during the lockdown period.
We recognise that being unable to see friends or family can have an adverse impact on people’s wellbeing, therefore residents will be able to form a support bubble with a family member or friend outside of the Hawthorns who will then be able to continue visiting in their apartment. We ask that you keep this support bubble to one household for apartment visiting during this national lockdown, as per the government guidance. We are also pleased to say that residents may see another family member or friend on an individual basis who are not part of their support bubble in a designated visiting area in the grounds – so lets all hope for kind Autumn weather!
We will keep this under constant review and will have to adjust these arrangements if we see an increase of positive COVID-19 cases at The Hawthorns. Thankfully, since the start of regular testing of residents and staff since July we have had very few cases across the Group.
